Summer Beauty Essentials

What better way to start off the month of June than a shopping spree for summer essentials? About a week ago I made a trip to Toronto's Eaton Center and I'd say it was a pretty productive shopping day. Here are a few of the beauty purchases I made:

  • Color Lip Last in Wanted Red by Sephora Collection
  • Ultra Sheer Face Sunscreen - SPF 45 by Neutrogena
  • Natural Bronzer in 021 Sunlight by Rimmel
  • Gold & Jade Ring by Forever 21

What I Have to Say About These Products...

Wanted Red Colour Lip Last by Sephora

I've been looking for a right lipstick for quite some time now and I've finally found a perfect red shade. This lipstick acts like a lip stain in the sense that it doesn't come off easily. This is definitely a plus because you don't have to keep reapplying it or worrying about it smudging off!

Ultra Sheer Face Sunscreen SPF 45 by Neutrogena

Super light and quick-absorbing! It applies easily and smoothly, almost as if it was a daily moisturizer. It's oil-free and non-comedogenic, meaning it doesn't clog pores. It's also got a light sunscreen scent that isn't overpowering, as I find some have too much of a smell to it.

Natural Bronzer in 021 Sunlight by Rimmel

I've only used this product once since buying it and it wasn't as pigmented as I'd thought it to be. Maybe I should've chosen a darker shade or maybe the brush I used didn't grip the product enough... I'll have to further explore with this bronzer because it's namely "Canada's #1 Bronzer" and I'm always hearing about how good it is!

Gold & Jade Ring by Forever 21

What first caught my eye was the colour of the green Jade. I thought it was a nice pop of colour yet subtle at the same time. I also found this ring with a lighter pink Jade but after much contemplating, I decided to go with the green.

Bring on the sunshine!
Sincerely,
Lily xx

May Favourites

I can't even believe how fast time is going by! I still remember starting first year university back in September, and now all of a sudden the first month of summer school is done! I guess time goes by extremely quick when you're put in different environments and kept busy... So before saying goodbye to May 2014, I'd like to share a few of my month favourites!

Apricot Scrub Blemish & Blackhead Clearing by St. Ives

This. product. is. amazing. I feel like it cleanses deep into my pores and fully exfoliates my skin. It removes the 'dead' top layer of skin and reveals the incredibly soft and smooth skin underneath. A couple times this month I've noticed parts of my face that have gotten unusually dry -sometimes even a little flaky. I noticed that this scrub actually helps remove that dry layer of skin and leaves my skin less dry and smooth the next day. This dermatologist tested product also contains 2% salicylic acid which helps with acne treatment!

Purchased from Shoppers.

Forever 21 Necklace

Not much to say other than it's easily pair-able with any outfit!

Purchased from canada.forever21.com

Women's Nike Flex 2012 Run

I like to run on trails by my house, and I find these Nikes are perfectly stable for running on uneven surfaces. I also love how weightless and comfortable they are. They practically mold to the shape of your feet for a better fit.

Purchased from Nike Outlet.

Pick Up Your Feet Playlist by Songza

I haven't downloaded new songs in a couple weeks so I'm pretty familiar with my iTunes library. This makes it boring when I try to find songs to listen to... so I resort to Songza. For those of you who don't know what Songza is, it's a free music website/app that helps you find  music to listen to, by already prepared playlists with hundreds of songs. You can either pick your mood: sad, dance, chill, etc. and it'll list a bunch of playlists you can choose from based on your mood. You can also pick playlists by activity: studying, hanging out with friends, getting over your ex (yup, that's an option). They also have playlists by every music genre out there. Convenient right?

This month, I was looking for a good playlist to work out to and stumbled upon Pick Up Your Feet. Now I listen to it even when I'm not working out! A couple of my favourites are Sing by Ed Sheeran, Problem by Ariana Grande ft Iggy Azalea, Pump It by BEP, Danse by Mia Martina and I Want It All by Karmin.

What were you up to this month?

Sincerely,
Lilly

Skinny Teatox

Continuing my new interest in a healthy lifestyle, I discovered teatoxes. I first came across them on Instagram; seeing people's before & after pictures everywhere. Then my friend told me people usually do a detox when they want to start a new diet or start working out. Since I want to do both of these things, I decided to do a little research.

Teatoxes are teas that people take to cleanse the insides of their body. Detoxing the body results in a number of physical results including weight loss and better skin, while promoting good health.

These results will show even if you don't change your lifestyle by diet or exercise. Although it is recommended because it speeds up the whole process. Teatoxes are usually done for 14 or 28 days and results are visible immediately. BUT make sure to maintain your healthy living because the teatox process is reversible. You don't necessarily have to be a health freak, just be conscious of what you eat and get your daily exercise! Even walking for 30 minutes is enough.

I found that many of the teatox companies were placed in Europe or Australia, but I came across one that was Canadian: Skinny Teatox.

The Skinny Teatox product consists of 2, 100% natural and organic teas:

The morning tea is a yummy tea taken to start off your day; it suppresses your appetite, gives you energy throughout the day and boosts your metabolism.

The evening tea is taken every other night starting on day 2. Contrary to the morning tea, the taste of this one isn't as pleasant. This tea cleans and detoxifies your body.

I'm sooo0o0ooo excited to say that I ordered the 28 days package; I feel like this will be a great fresh start!

I'd love to hear your thoughts about teatoxes! Click here to see where you can find me!

Sincerely,
Lilly
